Music in the Schools

Arts Jubilee, the non-profit that presents a 5-part summer concert series each year, has an additional, very important mission to bring live music performers to our area schools. We believe that the students are our future audience and it is our goal to show that live music performances are very exciting and even better in person than on a screen or in an ear bud!

Don’t be surprised if your student comes home from school during the week of April 29 – May 3 and starts talking about “penny whistles”, bag-pipes and synthesizers and two cool guys who played music for them. Dennis O’Neil & Davey Armstrong of Four Feet Two Shoes, known throughout the north country as one of the finest contemporary Celtic-Folk acts around have performed for Arts Jubilee for decades! The students are sure to be intrigued by Davey’s ‘foot pedals’, penny whistles of all sizes and his unbounding enthusiasm about Celtic music. Dennis has a guitar that can sound like a piano, an organ, and other cool instruments as well as a microphone that can change a person’s voice from baritone to soprano!

If you’d like to experience the “Dennis & Davey Performance” for yourself, please join us this summer at Cranmore for the 5-part concert series. Kids 12 and under are free and Dennis & Davey are opening for “The Piano Men” - the music of Billy Joel and Elton John on Thursday, August 1st. Arts Jubilee is grateful to the MWV Kiwanis Club, The Memorial Hospital and Fryeburg Rotary for their help in presenting this Music in the Schools project.
